AS and GCSE revision queries page

Welcome to the Revision Queries page.

The first part of this page is for tips/advice.

The second part is for questions that you may have yourselves about your topics or the exams that are coming up.

A Few Tips

  • Get up out of your beds in good time!  Don't let large parts of the day slip past without having done anything.
  • Eat well
  • Sleep well
  • Get some exercise
  • Take breaks - make them short breaks (about 10 minutes) and fit them in around 35-40 minute slots of revision.  You should fit about 3 35 minute slots of revision into a morning and about 3 into an afternoon or evening
  • Knock the part-time jobs on the head, or at least reduce your hours
  • Have some pleasant things to look forward to during your study period, so its not all a slog!
  • Be very clear when and where your exams are

The Chief Examiner says...

  • Module 1 - For 2(a), bias doesn't count as limitations!
  • Module 1 - For 2(b), make your answer into (as far as possible) an essay-type format, with an introduction and a conclusion.
  • Module 1 - For 2(b), keep coming back to the Q.  Bring the evidence from the sources and your knowledge back to the Q
  • Module 1 - You must get your knowledge in for both 2(a) and 2(b).  You will lose 4 marks in 2(a) if you don't
  • Module 1 and 2 - Don't overrun your time
  • Module 2 - Stalin Q - be aware of the difference between the purges and terror/force (terror/force is a wider term and goes beyond just the purges e.g. looking at intimidation in the factories, anti-kulak policies etc)
  • Module 2 - Consistency in economic policy - don't just make this an outline of economic policy.  Show clearly what changed and what stayed the same

If you have any queries concerning AS History which have come up in your revision, please post them in the space below.

I will get back to you as soon as possible, posting my reply underneath your query. (Mr Lappin)
