I believe that the bolshevik leaders can be credited with the success of the October Revolution to a great extent but there are also a number of other key factors that muct be examined such as the failures of the Provisional Government and the smugness of revolutinary parties in Russia at this time. I think the Bolshevik leadership can be given a lot of credit for the succes of the October revolution as they acted with urgency and were insistant on taking control and it is unlikely theyw ould have got into power if they hadn't acted when they did. The leadership urged non-co-operation with the Provisonal government because they did not want to be associated with the provisonal government and this added to their credibility. Also the bolshevik organisation that actually out the october revolution was the Miliatry Revolutionary Committee. This really helped the Bolsheviks as they had on their side the only effective military force in petrograd and it meant that they had teh only military force on their side for the revolution. I think also the fact that the leadership made the Bolsheviks so popular helped to teh success of teh revolutionas they had a lot of support which took crucial support away from other parties like the Mensheviks. They were the leading revolutionary group in Russia. They also managed to infiltrate and take control of the soviets.
